Q: Do I need to book in advance?
A: There’s no need to pre-book, unless it’s for a specific class or course, otherwise just come down!
Q: Is there a minimum age?
A: There is no minimum age to climb but it’s recommended for around age 5+ depending on individual abilities. Any children under 16 require an adult (18+) to supervise them, and one adult can supervise up to two children. In the interest of safety, any child must have their supervising adult with them AT ALL TIMES while using the centre.
Q: What are your opening hours?
A: Monday to Friday 12pm to 9pm, Saturday & Sunday 10am to 6pm
Q: Do you sell gift cards?
A: Yes, we do sell gift cards for any amount, these can be purchased in person or over the phone.
Q: Do you have on-site parking?
A: We don’t have on-site parking, but there is on street parking. Parking is free after 5pm. The nearest car park is Morton Place Carpark (1 Morton Place Kilmarnock KA1 2AY), which is only a few minutes walk from us.
Q: Do you have a café?
A: Not at the moment, but a café is part of our plans for Phase 2, opening later this year. We sell a small selection of cold drinks and snacks at reception.
Q: Do you have showers and lockers?
A: Yes we have changing facilities with showers, and lockers which require a padlock. Padlocks can be purchased at reception for £3.
Q: What should I wear to climb?
A: Clothing that is comfortable, not too loose fitting and that allows movement is recommended. Climbing shoes are required, but if you don’t have your own, you can hire climbing shoes from us.
We also ask that you remove any jewellery, especially rings, before you climb.
Q: When do the roped climbing walls open?
A: We aim to have our roped climbing section open by Autumn. Please keep an eye on our social media and website for updates.
Q: What does bouldering involve?
A: At the moment, while the rest of the climbing centre is still under construction, we have our bouldering walls open.
Bouldering is s style of climbing that stays relatively low to the ground, and so does not require ropes and harnesses. Our bouldering walls are 4.5m high. You don’t need any prior experience to boulder, you just need to watch a short safety video, fill out a registration form and start climbing!
Q: Can anyone try bouldering?
A: Yes, bouldering is suitable for all ages and abilities, as you can choose a level that suits your ability.

Q: Is climbing accessible for people with additional needs/ wheelchair users?
A: We aim to be a fully inclusive climbing centre when phase 2 of the centre opens later this year. This will be roped climbing which allows wheelchair users and people of all abilities to be able to experience climbing and we’ll have all the equipment and facilities needed for this.
Q: Do you do birthday parties?
A: Unfortunately we don’t have the facilities to be able to host parties just yet, but when the full centre opens later this year we will be able to offer this.
At the moment you can however bring in a group for a bouldering session with an instructor. This would be for 1 hour 30 minutes, and costs £80 for up to 8 people. Please call us for more information on 01563 657349.
Q: Do you run any classes?
A: We run kids clubs at the weekend and during school holidays. We can also run 1:1 or 1:2 sessions for participants with ASN, or for anyone who would like dedicated time with an instructor. If you’re after a specific type of course or class, please get in touch and we can almost certainly arrange something for you!
